Discovered October 26, 1984 by E. Bowell at the Anderson Mesa Station of the Lowell Observatory.

Lance A. M. Benner (b. 1964) is a scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. His hard work and selfless dedication to dozens of radar experiments on minor planets at Goldstone and Arecibo have contributed dramatically to their success. He was the first to realize with certainty that 2000 DP107 is a binary system.
