Eating is a transformative process, it should always feel good, never shameful and you should never hurt afterward. In currently there are two versions of Belanger's book Dictionary of Demons, the first one was released in 2016, the second edition released in 2021. They are identical except the second edition has 200 additional or expanded entries.
The strongest connection I can make with this is the Multi-State Bar Exam. There are so many preliminary questions, which are not graded, but are of upmost importance, they test if you're using the right book to pass the exam. Bargaining
Here you might beg, you might plead, or you might try to negotiate to see if you can scam another out of just a little bit of power. In local labor unions they are a Bargaining Unit that goes to the Negotiations to attempt a collective raise or somehow bargain more benefits from the employer. That's the best analogy I can find for this one.
If they don't reach an agreement, they move on to Striking .. This reminds me very well much of Demeter, striking against everyone until they reach some type of agreement. See this.
Depression
This is when you realize you're dying and there's nothing you can do about it and you become depressed. Nephthys' role in this is to make sure you don't accept the bargain deals and become the scapegoat of someone else. The world will see that you are not valuing yourself very much and ... for example you might be getting a lot of new messages on a dating website. You are not valuing yourself, simply, because you are in a depressed state. Depressed means lack of illumination.
It's almost like when Apep casts the world into darkness. It's inevitable, sure, and at times everyone in the world will do "whatever it takes" to get out of that world and escape to something else instead of deal with the unpleasantness. That's why in Egyptian mythology they say you might be able to make Apophis lay low for a while, but you never kill him. It's almost like the deepest, darkest parts of your subconscious .... lurking until it sees the opportunity to strike back against you.
Acceptance
Accepting reality as it is, no matter how bad it seems and allowing oneself to transform.
HERE'S MY CONFESSIONS: At one point I told a man I was seeing that we are not dating, we're negotiating to see who has more power within the relationship. At this point, 2-3 years later nothing has developed from the said relationship. We're still friends though.
