Discovered September 23, 1992 by F. Borngen at Tautenburg.

Named in memory of Heinrich (1871-1950) and Thomas Mann (1875-1955), born in the Hanseatic town of Lübeck, both prominent German writers and social critics. In 1930, Heinrich became director of the section “Art of Creative Writing” of the Prussian Academy of Sciences. Thomas received the 1929 Nobel Prize for literature. After emigrating in 1933, they later settled in the United States.
