The John is a slang term for a Generous Male.

You know every prostitute likes a generous male.

However, there's also aweful things like a John Doe who you have 48-hours to figure out why or how he died.  And then and only then is there The John which is basically a toilet, in jail anyway, but you gotta have personal knowledge to understand that much.
